Periodontal disease and gingivitis test. This is a home test kit where you are sent the sample kit. You swish and gargle to obtain the sample and then send it to our lab using the included mailer. This test looks for 11 “usual suspect” oral pathogens.

This is a test kit that is sent to your home. The kit comes with instructions on how to collect the sample. We recommend that you obtain the sample in the morning before consuming any foods or beverages. The test looks for 11 “usual suspect” oral pathogens.

Even if you have no problems with your gums and teeth you may still have a substantial burden of oral pathogens. Some of these oral pathogens are classified as “spirochetes,” which are the same class of organism that causes Lyme disease. Common sources of oral pathogens in your mouth include:

  1. Pockets or cavitations, some of which are due to the removal of wisdom teeth.
  2. Root canals
  3. Other dental surgeries
  4. Improper dental care
  5. High carbohydrate diets
